If you keep falling out of your exercise routine, remember this:

It's not just about making room for fitness in your life, it's also about making room for your life in your fitness routine!

Thinking that you always have to be 100% with your fitness routine might actually be the thing that’s preventing you from sticking to it.

Most people start a fitness routine when everything aligns and they now have some free time and energy to commit to something new, but what happens when something comes up? Your kid can’t go to daycare, work gets super busy, a new injury pops up...

This is when you have to let yourself make room in your fitness routine for those life things. So rather than stopping all together, you can cut back or adjust to prioritize what’s most important at that time.

Cutting back does not mean losing progress or momentum and by no means is it a failure. It’s the thing that helps you keep going!

This could mean switching from 3 x 45-minute workouts a week to 2 x 20-minute workouts a week instead. Or in my case with knee and hamstring issues, I’ve gone from 3 full body workouts a week to 2 upper body workouts and 1 core/Pilates workout a week, with a few leg rehab exercises sprinkled in here and there. It’s not what I wanted my exercise routine to look like, but it’s how I can continue taking care of my body and building strength where I can.

It’s time to let go of being perfect with your workouts and allow them to ebb and flow with your life.
