Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I'm ready for a class like this? Exercise is now being encouraged in the first 12 weeks of postpartum, so if you've already felt comfortable going for walks and doing household activities, and you're craving more movement, you're likely ready for the class since we can adjust the workout to suit your needs in the moment. If you had any surgical incisions or tears associated after giving birth, these must be sufficiently healed. To be on the cautious side, I recommend not attending the classes if you're still experiencing Lochia (postnatal bleeding), but if you have questions about this, please email me at info@coachdeefitness.com.
What if I sometimes experience leaking/incontinence or if I have Diastasis Recti (ab separation)– can I still join the classes? Yes! This is ultimately up to you unless your trusted health practitioner has advised against it. The exercises we'll be doing in the classes will give you support for these symptoms, and there's always the option to scale the workout back, make modifications and rest whenever you need.
What if I need to feed my baby during class? We all know what happens when hanger sets in... You can pause what you're doing at any time to tend to and feed your baby. Breastfeeding is welcome right in the gym space, or you can use one of the bathrooms for more privacy.
Why are the class sizes so small? Your body goes through a lot during pregnancy and postpartum, and everyone experiences these changes differently. I want to be able to be there for you, even in a group session, to make exercise adjustments based on your unique needs, and answer any questions you might have as you go through the workout. Having small groups allows me to give you extra support when you need it and help you feel seen and heard in each class.
